This swirl of orange juice and yogurt reminds me of hot summers in New Jersey spent by the pool. When the ice cream truck came around I wouldn’t choose a crazy chocolate-y ice cream or a red, white and blue sugary firecracker – I always went for the refreshing creamsicle.

This recipe emulates my beloved creamsicle – there’s just something about the combination of sweet orange juice and creamy yogurt. I like to alternate the orange juice mixture and yogurt so that you end up with a pretty marbled treat.

Key Ingredients in This Recipe

  • Orange juice – I use pulp free orange juice is this recipe for a smooth popsicle. You can also use freshly squeezed orange juice and strain the pulp from it if desired.
  • Yogurt – I use vanilla whole milk yogurt in this recipe though plain can also be used.
  • Food coloring – I add orange food coloring to the orange mixture to create a stronger orange color. This way it creates marbling effect that contrasts with the white yogurt. You can omit if desired though it will cause a duller color.

How to Make Orange Creamsicle Popsicles

  1. Blend the orange juice mixture. In a blender puree the orange juice, the sugar and ½ cup of the yogurt until combined. Add a little bit of the gel food coloring using a toothpick and blend until the mixture is a pale orange color.
  2. Alternate orange mixture and yogurt mixture. Divide the mixture between the 3-ounce Popsicle molds until they are filled ½ of the way up. Alternate adding small scoops of yogurt with the remaining orange juice mixture to create a marbling effect.
  3. Freeze the popsicles. Insert the popsicle sticks and freeze until the pops are solid, about 6 hours. Briefly run the molds under the hot water to release the popsicles from the molds.
