Loaded Everything Bagel Spice Avocado Toast

Traditional avocado toast with mashed up avocado has become a bit cliché, nonetheless it’s a popular breakfast choice for a reason. And while I may not be able to afford a house because of my addiction to avocados, it’s a healthy and flavorful way to start the day. In this recipe whole grain bread is toasted and spread with cream cheese and layered with slices of avocado, “everything bagel ” seasoning and breakfast radish.

I could put everything bagel  seasoning on everything! As you may have guessed, everything bagel spice is the spice blend of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, salt, minced onion and minced garlic that is added to the top of “everything bagels”. Luckily this recipe makes more than you will need so you can add it to anything from eggs to popcorn.

If you’re only using a half of an avocado, the best way to store it is to keep the pit in it, coat it with lemon or lime juice (to keep it from oxidizing), and wrap it in plastic or store it in a plastic bag.



For the everything bagel spice:

1 teaspoon poppy seeds

½ teaspoon black sesame seeds

½ teaspoon white sesame seeds

½ teaspoon coarse kosher salt

½ teaspoon dried minced onion

½ teaspoon dried minced garlic


For the avocado toast:

2  (½-inch) slices whole grain bread

4 tablespoons cream cheese

1 medium haas avocado, pitted, peeled and thinly sliced

2 small breakfast radishes, thinly sliced



For the everything bagel spice:

Stir together the spices until thoroughly combined. Set aside or store in an airtight container.


For the avocado toast:

Toast the bread in a toaster until golden brown. Spread cream cheese on each slice then top with the slices of avocado. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of the everything bagel spice mix over the top of each slice of bread. Top with the breakfast radish.


Serves 1.
